Petfood Seasoning systems are an important element of petfood production. Pet owners are becoming more aware of the importance of the quality of the food they provide for their pets. The seasoning of pet food plays a vital role in enhancing its taste, aroma, and overall appeal. However, achieving consistent and uniform seasoning coverage can be a challenge for pet food manufacturers, especially when dealing with a variety of pet food types and sizes. Palatants are ingredient systems that are specially designed to make pet foods, treats, and supplements taste better, ensuring that pets receive the vital nutrients they need. Palatants entice a pet to consume a food, treat, or supplement that, while nutritious, may be inconsistent with their native diet.
At KMG, we offer a range of seasoning systems and palatant systems specifically designed for dry pet food. These systems are designed to meet the unique needs of pet food manufacturers, providing precision and accuracy in the application of seasonings. KMG’s seasoning technology provides consistent and uniform coverage of seasoning across all kinds of pet food, from kibbles to treats. With a range of options to choose from, pet food manufacturers can choose the right seasoning system for their specific product needs.
KMG Dry Petfood Seasoning systems
Petfood palatants and petfood seasoning are available as dry powders and liquids. The KMG petfood seasoning system continuously weighs the base product petfood as it enters our seasoning drum where we first apply the exact dose of liquid required followed by an even scarf of dry seasoning. A few moments more dwell time perfectly completes the seasoning. Let’s take a look at these steps in a little more detail:
Typical liquid palatant application rates would be between 1% and 3% and our unique closed loop control liquid spray unit will ensure that the application rates are met very accurately. The KMG LSU is designed to run without compressed air, delivering a consistent spray pattern over a wide turn down ratio. By modulating the flow at the nozzle, we avoid the use of compressed air and this prevents misting.
Palatant or seasoning powder application rates are usually between 0.5% and 2% and the KMG Powder Dosing unit will accurately meter out the powder, usually onto a scarf feeder, dosing either volumetrically or gravimetrically.
One of the key features of KMG petfood seasoning systems technology is its precision. Our vibratory conveyor systems are designed to deliver the exact amount of seasoning required for each piece of pet food, regardless of its shape or size. This ensures that every kibble or treat has a consistent coverage of seasoning. This helps to ensure that every batch of pet food is of the highest quality.
All our seasoning and palatant application systems are highly efficient, enabling pet food manufacturers to produce large quantities of pet food in a shorter period. With the ability to control the application of seasoning down to the smallest detail, manufacturers can minimise waste and reduce production costs, which is beneficial to both the manufacturer and the end consumer.
At KMG, our petfood seasoning systems are designed to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Moreover, they are designed to be easy to maintain, easy to clean, providing safe access making our systems reliable and robust.
Our petfood seasoning systems are also designed with hygiene in mind. All our systems are made from food-grade stainless steel and are easy to clean and sanitise. This is especially important in the pet food industry, where hygiene and safety are paramount.
Pet food seasoning systems are an essential component of the pet food manufacturing process. KMG’s range of seasoning systems provides precision and accuracy, ensuring that pet food manufacturers can achieve consistent and uniform seasoning coverage for their pet food products, whilst maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
